MicroStation V8i is crashing when I try to attach a ctb pen table. Any solution for this? Thanks
Hi Laura,
unfortunately you do not provide too much information to do even a basic analysis of the issue :-(
Please follow the best practices and share as many details as possible:

Hi Jan, I work with Laura. She was troubleshooting on my behalf.
MicroStation Version: MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 10) -Version 08.11.09.919 Windows x86
Windows Version: Windows 10 Enterprise
Jan Šlegr said:Is the problem specific to only this ctb file?
No, selecting any CTB file I've tested will cause the program to crash.
Jan Šlegr said:When MicroStation crashes, are exception log and dmp file created?
If it's creating a dmp file I don't know how to access it. I've attached the exception log.
GeoVerra Standard Black and Color.ctb0310.exception.log
Jan Šlegr said:Is the problem specific to only specific workspace?
Yep. We've used the CTB successfully in the past on different machines, this is a new install that's causing the trouble.
We don't have any in house experts so might have missed something obvious with the installation.
Jan Šlegr said:Where ctb file is saved? Locally or on network?
Locally.
Thank you for your help
Hi Matthew,
thanks for the details, the versions seem to be fine (V8i SS10 is certified for Windows 10).
Matthew Jordan said:No, selecting any CTB file I've tested will cause the program to crash.
It's important information, because it means the problem is caused e.g. by one corrupted CTB file.

There is wiki section available, dedicated only to log files and memory dumps. Both files (log and dmp) should be in the same folder.
Plus, when you open the log file, there is full path to dmp file mentioned.

Surprisingly, CTB crashes MicroStation also on my computer.
What I see in memory dump (dmp) file (I have MicroStation installed to generate complete, several GB large, dump ;-) is weird a bit, (because points to something related to licensing?):
FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: INVALID_POINTER_READ_AVRF_c0000005_bentley.entliclib.dll!inflate
But maybe it's only a consequence of memory, corrupted earlier.

Can you check the version of CONNECTION Client, both on crashing and other computers?
I guess you should create Service Ticket and to mention a link to this discussion.
Regards,
Jan would it make any difference if the ctb and pltcfg's were recycled v8i ctb's and pltcfgs or do users have to rebuild custom printers and custom pentables in CE from the beginning when setting up CE and using CE..
