I am trying to create a .pset from the Sheet Index. I have Print Styles setup but, I am not able to select a paper size. I have a Print Style setup to use ANSI D & one to use ANSI B but, it does not matter which style I select the ANSI B

RE: CE 16.2 How is paper size selected when creating a .pset with Sheet Index??

Hi Rod sounds like you should create a workbook on how to set it up and all things print organizer and get bentley to pay for it.. as the help is hopeless....

You can set up automatic sheet numbering criteria for different folders in the index that are automatically added to the sheet models. If you move a sheet, the numbers automatically adjust. From the Sheet Index it can be as easy as one click to send your sheets to Print Organizer, then one click in Print Organizer to print.

As Ian Lapper points out, it's usually not that easy.

It takes a lot of time, and patience, to get workflows set up to use it efficiently. It is best used in conjunction with the Named Boundary tool to cut the sheets and reference them into their own sheet models. You have to set up custom drawing boundaries so that the cut area is placed in the correct location on the sheet.

RE: CE 16.2 How is paper size selected when creating a .pset with Sheet Index??
The Printing & Plotting Forum would be a good place to post that question.
Yes, that is true. I do not have the option to move it to that forum.
Since you can only have one Sheet Index per WorkSet it might take some creating thinking to work around that.
The sheets are defined as ANSI D. The plot driver is set to have ANSI B as the default paper size. This forces the pset to use the ANSI B paper size. I created a new driver and have only ANSI D defined. I have an ANSI B one created as well. If I create a .pset with the ANSI D driver but, if I want to create an ANSI B set I can just open the .pset, switch the plot driver to ANSI B and print the set. The sheets will scale properly.

That is the workaround at the moment.

RE: CE 16.2 How is paper size selected when creating a .pset with Sheet Index??
What exactly is the point of the Sheet Index?
It is suppose to offer you the ability to :

create sheets files incusing the file name and models - doesn't do this very well

manage sheets - doesn't allow you to use the DGN filename as the sheet index name

That size is carried over to Print Organizer when you export the sheets in the Sheet Index to Print Organizer.

You want to have the Sheet Model paper size correct to start with as the affects scaling, positioning, etc. of your print. You can change the paper size in Print Organizer.

Your question does bring up some interesting workflow challenges, as it is not uncommon to print sheets on D Size (or larger) for public comment, then print the final plan set on B Size paper. Since you can only have one Sheet Index per WorkSet it might take some creating thinking to work around that.

RE: CE 16.2 How is paper size selected when creating a .pset with Sheet Index??

I have found that if you use the Sheet Index to create the Print Organisor setup, you lose all controls over the print/plot setup including paper size. If you manually create the print organisor you get the full control back.
