How do i get this: When you choose to print, and the popup box comes up and you choose the configuration for exporting PDF, you click print and then the file ready to be saved. The automatic generated name that is suggested to be the file name, in there i would like a variable to be the last 2 digits of year, the 2 digits month, and 2 digits day. Many people reference guides to do this, but all the links take you to a page that does not work anymore.
Can anybody help with it?
I can do it just fine with VBA as I do automatically with with revisions, although that approach doesn't work for batch plotting,
I'm not sure if there is a relevant entry that can be coded in the PLTCFG File Name field but this article suggest it can be done with Named Expressions though I haven't tried it personally - https://communities.bentley.com/other/old_site_member_blogs/bentley_employees/b/andrew_edges_blog/posts/tutorial_3a00_-including-the-date-in-print-output-file-names
Hi Victor,
I recommend to follow the best practices and to share information a standard set of information about the used product and its exact version. Often it is done using standardized subject format with prefix like e.g. [MStn CE U16.3] Date format in PDF file name.

Please, when you mention links, share them also, so they can be tested and e.g. fixed by authors (not always possible, but e.g. when pointing to wiki, it can be done).

I think article linked by Barry Lothian describes exactly the functionality you ask for. The way through Named Expressions is not straightforward (Named Expression in dgnlib plus properly set configuration variable are required), but is very flexible and you can define literally any name format.

I'm a low tech guy, when I can.
This is the solution I use. I don't want date in the filename, I rely on the computer file date, I know many people rename my files with the date, not necessary. But I definitely want the date the thing was processed. And I dislike 2 digit years, gets confusing with how others around the world note dates..
Using the following I get what I want.

I use the project number (or ID) as the directory name, so don't need that either. It's simply filename, model, date and time.

There's certainly nothing wrong with Text substitutions, but Victor's requirement appears to be that the date be built into the name.
Here's an illustration (captured yesterday) of the date being automatically added to a single print by piggy-backing my auto-revision macro; the Revision in the Titleblock is B so _B is suffixed to the file name, and finally the date is appended with a space for separation.
I did also have a quick play with the Named Expressions and it seems to work just fine.
Thank you all for your time, and yes this is what i want. But i dont understand what you did to get it in this date format.
