Date format variable

Hi Victor,

I recommend to follow the best practices and to share information a standard set of information about the used product and its exact version. Often it is done using standardized subject format with prefix like e.g. [MStn CE U16.3] Date format in PDF file name.

I think article linked by Barry Lothian describes exactly the functionality you ask for. The way through Named Expressions is not straightforward (Named Expression in dgnlib plus properly set configuration variable are required), but is very flexible and you can define literally any name format.

But I definitely want the date the thing was processed. And I dislike 2 digit years, gets confusing with how others around the world note dates..

Using the following I get what I want.

There's certainly nothing wrong with Text substitutions, but Victor's requirement appears to be that the date be built into the name.

Here's an illustration (captured yesterday) of the date being automatically added to a single print by piggy-backing my auto-revision macro; the Revision in the Titleblock is B so _B is suffixed to the file name, and finally the date is appended with a space for separation.

I did also have a quick play with the Named Expressions and it seems to work just fine.

Did you read article linked by Barry Lothian? It describes in detail what Named Expression should be created and how this expression should be used in .pltcfg file.

Nothing especially complex, I just added a Format function in VBA to output the date in the arrangement you outlined. The screen capture shown didn’t use the named expression approach, I did tested that separately at a different time.
