Print to PDF - missing levels

MicroStation Connect Edition 15

Been using MicroStation for a few months on and off now and have been printing drawings to PDF's ok. But now I have a couple of drawings that were produced by someone else that I want to print as PDF’s. However, the drawing borders do not appear in the print preview or are in the PDF when printed! just the image within the drawing! The level manager shows all the layers are shown and not frozen and ticked for printing…

I have checked to make sure that all the layers are set to print ticked, and all are shown in the level display, but I still can not get the border to print… Is this something to do with Cell’s or shapes or maybe the colour the border is set to?

Can anyone help with this or suggest anything I can do or change to make the whole drawing print?

Thank you

Bob

  • Hello Bob,

One thing that comes to mind that can very easily be looked over is the "CLASS". check the border element and make sure it isn't set to construction class or any parts of the border, they should all be set to "PRIMARY".

    thanks.

  • Hi Brandon

Thank you for your reply, much appreciated...

I have been a hard core AutoCAD user since 1991 and now have to learn the ways of MicroStation!

However I have managed to print the drawing border by going into the map pen colours then table and changed one pen print colour Pen No. 6 to 0,0,0, (Black) it's the only one with a pen colour defined! but it printed ok although my hatch pattern that was magenta must be on the same layer/level as it is now black also! I can live with this!..

Guess these are the issues with having to amend someone else's drawings if they have been lazy and not used the layer/levels correctly!

    Thanks again

    Bob

  • talk to your cad manager maybe you need to implement dgnlib layer/ level control  where all the levels are pre-named and symbology set  for each level. Then CAD manager should educate and enforce layer control with drafters.. as you already know acad or mstn  level standards should always be used....without seeing your dgn and   pentable  its a bit  hard to actually  give you a more concise solution...
