I have a problem with MicroStation V8i being extremely slow when we change “PrintStyles”. I have narrowed it down to not being the actual “PrintStyle” in the dgnlib file , but the .pltcfg file that the “PrintStyle” calls. As I said, I have disabled MicroStation from looking at the dgnlib with the “PrintStyles” and simply manually selecedt the .pltcfg file.
· Slow with all .pltcfg files, except the PDF .pltcfg’s that don’t actually call a network printer.
· When I say slow, it takes 3-5 minutes before the print dialog is ready to print.
· This is only with V8i SS2 version # 08.11.07.443
When testing in V8 XM version # 08.09.04.88 it takes only seconds before the dialog is ready to print.
I have attached a sample .pltcfg file. (at least I think I did)
I don't know if it is how we have the printers set-up on the Network or not, but it is strange the difference between XM and V8i.
Note:
System Info: Windows 7 Professional, Intel Xeon 2.27 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 32 bit OS, NVIDIA Quadro 2000 - Driver: 8.17.12.7071
Loads fine here for me using 08.11.07.443
Perhaps it might be an idea to provide a debug of your 08.11.07.443 config and of your 08.09.04.88 config
Here is my msdebug file for 08.11.07.443

Mike,
I have/had this same issue large scale "Kip printer".
What I have found is that if the network printer is already
loaded and Microstation tries to reload it, the system bogs down.
So I run a batch each time I want to print which loads the hpgl driver that we never use
and then load the correct driver.
Not as clean as I would like, but gets the job done.
Tom
I don't know if this will help or not but I noticed that you have no printer defined in the driver. Try adding a printer path in the driver as shown in the attachment.
Microstation CONNECT 10.17.00.209
ORD CONNECT 2021 R1 10.10.1.3
Microstation v8i SS 10 08.11.09.919
Power InRoads v8i 08.11.09.615
ProjectWise 10.0.3.453
I am defining the windows printer as well as the paper size in the printstyle to minimize the number of pltcfg files. I will however try to have it defined in the pltcfg and see if that helps. I don't understand the difference in XM and V8i when the plot config is attached manually though.
