I'm in the process of converting from AutoCAD to Microstation. I have an external VB program that opens .dwg files and creates pdf files from them and adds them to other pdf files to create a document we then supply to our customers. PW InterPlot Organizer's batch printing interface allows you to combine DGN, DWG and PDF files in the order they need to appear in your output. Once you have everything setup like you want, you then export to a PDF. The plot set with the originating designs and PDFs can be saved so that you can easily go reproduce your PDF.

Also, if you wish to have links in the produced PDF, for example, from your areas in the design files to a section in a PDF, you can use MicroStation's Project Explorer to define these links.

Since you are converting to MicroStation, you should have ProjectWise Passports as a part of your MicroStation SELECT benefit and they enable PW InterPlot Organizer.

Re: Printing from external applications

Dave,

Try the v8i VBA forum if you don't have any luck here.
