Name of geometry in 3D PDFs

Hello,

I'm posting this on behalf of a user, on MicroStation V8i SELECTserie 3 (08.11.09.459),

When printing 3D PDFs, the name of the geometries is not kept, in the resulting PDF, the different object are named Geometry 1, Geometry 2, etc. despite objects been named in the original DWG, in object manager.

I'm quite sure that PDF can have names specified as a PDF created with a French version will have the geometries named in French, ex. Géométrie 1

We have not found the proper configuration, any one any idea ?

Claude

  • What do you mean with ".. the name of the geometries is not kept..".?

What do you asume the elements form Microstation should named to, when creating a 3D PDF?

Do you have evidences that "...named in the original DWG, in object manager" names should come to the 3D PDF, with microstation PDF.PLTCFG!

    Regards

  • Well, It is embarrassing, I was talking about "DGN" not DWG, let say 3D design.

MicroStation allows giving names to objects (in DGN) and elements in a scene printed to PDF 3D can be cells with their own name, references with names too, the user believe that the name in the PDF should be picked from there.

I understand from your reaction that some users do not want the geometries in PDF to pick their name from the names set by the user as it work by default that is not a problem.

I thought the requested behaviour was one of the many option PDF creation offers but I just could not find it.

If I get the confirmation that this is not possible at the moment, then it should be a change request.

  • It is not possible to get the results you are looking for.  The "Geometry" labels are generic labels given to the elements on the level in the model tree.
