[v8i] mass drop complex

After spending a day with technical support, I have come across an issue where a referenced file that is stringing nodes together to form the profile of a feature (such as a curb or tree line) these nodes are geolocated points from a survey and are in our "topo" file. when referenced in they are read-only, but the nodes create a point in which they plot as a visible feature (dot) on the paper. I had sent my file into Bentley to look at it and the issue came about due to the fact that my surveyor is using a 2004 version of microstation/geopak and my version v8i have a compatibility issue. The suggested fix relegates to taking the cell and using the "drop complex" tool to make the nodes individual items. The issue with this is there are hundreds of nodes on the file. He suggested to me to post on the interfacing side of the forum on how to drop a certain cell (as these nodes are all contained within this cell).

  • Open the reference that contains the placed cell.

You should be able to select an element in the cell to to select the entire cell.

Then use the Drop Complex tool to drop the cell.

    • Menu: Tools > Manipulate > Drop > Drop Complex
    • Key-In: DROP COMPLEX

What is the service request number?

  • Thank you for your response. I will attempt to try this and see what my results are. I did not get a request number. I did all of my help through here messaging and on the phone with a bentley rep.

  • The cell is just the points themselves, a heavy line weight point, in some instances they are just points and others they are strings in elements (contour lines, locations of piping) and are not consistent. They plot even if they are just a point or as part of an element and its root has been from a v8 to v8i error that was noted by the technician that helped me the last two days. how can I select these items and drop them without altering the files, as they are generally from the TOPO file that geolocates features or points of features that, if edited, can make the parts of the file no longer be in place or not plot (if turned off, hidden, or mask clipped).

  • I would try 3 things to see if the nodes disappear in Luxology rendering. 1) put the node linework on a separate level and turn that level off prior to rendering. 2) make sure the check box for 'ignore open lines and text" in render setting is "on", this should ignore the nodes during rendering... 3) if that didn't work or you need the lines/text to render, change the lineweight of the 'nodes' to a weight of "0" and color "black" (or light grey) - this will minimize (though not eliminate) the issue.

This only applies to a Luxology render, not screen display or 'save as' image capturing.
