Best workflow from Corridor Modeler SS2 to Microstation 3D Visualization?

Hello,

I have a roadway designed in Corridor Modeler (GEOPAK SS2) and would like to bring it into Microstation to model some other things and then render it.  I have the .dtm file and a .tin file generated from Corridor Modeler.  What's the best way to get the model back into Microstation?  I can import the tin (but no materials or colors) but haven't been able to import the dtm.  Is there a quick/easy way to do this that I'm missing?

Thanks!

  • If I'm not mistaken the .dtm is an Inroads (or PowerCivil) file format. In Inroads you can load the file and triangulate / mesh it. In MicroStation you can give the elements a material (if you gave the triangulated DTM a specific layer / color you can assign the material otherwise I should attach it). You can find this tools under the visualization tab in the task bar. In the render Window (Q1) you will find the most common tools to visualize you're model.

In Ss3 or 4 of Geopak you've got the OpenRoad tools which will make this kind of work much easier. All terrain file formats of Bentley Civil programm's can be used (for example .dtm .tin .inp . landXML) and loads directly in MicroStation (Open Roads tools are fully integrated in MicroStation).

  • Jim,
I'm using InRoads and I'll display components (from roadway designer SURFACE > VIEW SURFACE > COMPONENTS) and those are what I render. I know GEOPAK has Roadway Designer, but I'm not sure if it displays the components the way Inroads does. Triangles would be my last choice for roadway, because I haven't found an easy way to quickly assign materials/colors.
