Connect - material parameters differs in Luxology and MicroStation

See image below.

Settings:

Units: Meters

Mapping: Parametric

I get the feeling that the rendering part was hastily added.

Also troubles with projection mode surface

  • Update: Only the Solid mapping shows in the render engine what I got in the MicroStation view.
  • A simple cube with cubic mapping
    does not work ...

I ran some tests on existing work and to file new, CONNECT is unusable for rendering,..

continuous crash, material editor that freezes, I had to put the refresh manually to try to work

display style that cease to showing the material ...

this is not a commercial release !!!

    Ciao

  • Thanks for confirming Alex.
About the material projection, can you try to restart MicroStation and see if the problem still exist? After MicroStation crashed and I did a restart the projection matches.

Of-course, this is not what we want, but it might be a workaround.

And about the rendering, can you take a look to the new diffuse roughness option (under diffuse) in the material editor. I had some nice results after tuning the materials with this (bar to the left is lighter to the right is darker). Maybe the translation of pré Connect Edition materials could use some fine-tuning.

B.t.w. is it possible for anyone from Bentley to explain the diffuse roughness? I tried to find an explanation in the help, but couldn't find anything (Maybe I looked to fast).
  • Hello Louis,
    Thanks for reporting issue.
I am able to reproduce issue with Units = Surface and mapping = Cubic,Defect#278744 filed to track down this issue.

    Thanks & Rg

  • Louis,

see this for the reference of material characteristics - Modo material

  • Hi louis,
I'm trying the cdiffuse roughness, we'll see :-)

I put a little video, which shows that with units: Surface and Mapping: cubic
    (in this case) works

whereas with Units: meters and Mapping: cubic
    not work

    you can try?
