there are too many improvements in this engine, when we see it on MS?
MIS and ALSA two acronyms spectacular, look here:

Ciao
That would be sad Wim. Here in the lower countries you're a lead on the area of architectural impressions made with Bentley software. Looking to the past Bentley always focused the development of their software at one subject a time. A few years ago the focus was aimed at visualization. The Luxology Render engine was added, and many improvements on the visualization part where added (Traffic tools, Object paint, stamp, Effects Manager, etc..) After that the development of visualization tools stopped and the focus was on Open Road Tools. The last period all focus seems to be on the Connect Edition. The result was the release of a beta version. Looking back however to the first version(s) of v8 / 2004, I also experienced this versions as dramatic looking to stability. It looks like Bentley can only focus at one subject a time. Let's hope now the Connect Edition is released, Bentley can focus to visualization again. The lack of this in the past years has resulted in a lag looking to other 3D software packages. If the 901 engine would be added with the new material system / shader system, UV (unwrapping / unfolding) tools (where an image can be bend in the direction of lines) and render options, Bentley software would be back in this time again. Bentley has outsources the development of the render engine totally to The Foundry. I'm not an expert, but I should say that the (stable) integration of the render engine shouldn't be a lot of work (relatively). Maybe now Eon is acquired the developers of that render engine can help modernizing the render engine and material system of Bentley software.
In the past the visualization community had a group of very loyal members, organizing contests, sharing tips and work. It was a great source of inspiration. Studying the posts of this group helped me to reach the level of I have today.
What is left of that group today (fortunately we stil have Wim and Alex)?
Thanks Louis :-) but unfortunately your scenario, I do not think that will happen. because no one develops for bentley, (rendering) simply because there is no demand, the plugin Maxwell is stationary or walking like a snail ... (sick) :-) ... I talked to the developers, the ... response was that we are really very few ... What you say, "the old group", is true, someone has changed jobs, but others have changed their software. I have the same thought Wim ... Jerry, very honestly said, in an old post, which does not have the resources to carry out more things, so now who bought E-on, what happens? All with the new toy? Capturing e-on has been a master stroke, for the world Bentley, Geodesign etc ... but we, do interior projects, and we are confronted with people using vray corona etc ... ... About Corona, created by one person and carried forward by two or three ... However, clinging to the last hope, I try to resist ... :-)) Ciao
