Our DOT would like to use a modified version of the "Hidden Line" Display Style (Settings > Display Styles) with Hidden Edges toggled on for 2D bridge detailing, in order to display hidden features with dashed lines. We are also using level display priority along with it, in order to control which shapes will display with hidden lines (dashed). We were able to get everything to work as desired except for one thing. When text containing background masking is placed over the linework, the background masking behaves like a transparent filled shape and no longer masks out the linework underneath it. We tried to resolve this problem by referencing the design file into a sheet file, with the Display Style set through the reference file's Presentation setting, but still no luck. If anyone is familiar with this problem and has come up with a way to handle it, your help would be greatly appreciated.
