V8i - Fill Surfaces as Solids?

You have applied a Display Style called Transparent Modeling. On your keyboard hit CTRL+B and a menu called View Attributes wil appear. If you change Display Style to either Smooth or Illustration, you should see filled objects.

Thanks for your response, but this is not my issue. I'm not concerned with the visual appearance.

As I am sure you are aware, MicroStation has both surface and solid element types. In this model the cylinder is a solid, but the "slide" around the outside is made of several surfaces (i.e. it is hollow). I need to model the slide as a solid. It has to be a solid element.

I've tried to thicken the surfaces to solids, stitching the surfaces together and trying to use them to trim the shape from a solid, and many other failed attempts.

Ah, understood.

There is a command called Solid by Thicken Surface that can... well like it says, it thickens a surface and makes it a Solid.

Thanks again, but as I mentioned I actually already tried this. Unfortunately the geometry of the slide is such that this tool does not produce the desired result.

What I am really hoping is that there is a way to "fill" an area that is bounded by surfaces, but I have not been able to find a way yet.

I agree - a "fill between surfaces" would be a useful tool.

I've had a go at creating the slide using the standard "thicken surface", "fillet edges" and "subtract solids" tools, with fairly accurate results. See attached.

This is very very close and I think I can use it even though it is ever so slightly different than the original.

I don't know how you used the tools you listed to achieve this. It's great to have the model, but I wish I knew how to do it myself.

I recreated the side surfaces to the "Slide" as I do not believe the existing ones matched. Having recreated I then selected all the surfaces and used the ' Stitch Surfaces ' tool to join them and convert to a solid.
