Hi I would like to get a D.E.M. into lumenRT. Is this possable using Vue or some other tool? If some kind soul would give me an example of your work flow I wold be one happy little camper!

Dan,
I don't think LumeRT can import a DEM directly, It supports obj, fbx, vob, raw, dae, 3ds, and 3sm (MicroStation's scaleable mesh). If you have InRoads or GEOPAK you should be able to import the DEM to a terrain model, then send that to LumenRT.

Hi Tom, thanks for getting back to me I don't have the above but I do have Vue Extream. Is it possable to get a terrain out of Vue into LumenRT? (I'a just an artist that uses several tools to do VIS work)
Sketchup will import a dem or ddf, then export to dae, fbx, 3ds etc. As Sketchup's free, might be worth checking out.

Thanks (again) Tom So I take it thhat I can't use Vue to get a D.E.M into LumenRT? If so then I hope that the people at Vue can add suport for exporting a landscape with a D.E.M. into LumenRT!!
Hi Dan,
DEM can be a rather generic term used to refer to a variety of different 3d elevation model formats. (Digital_elevation_model-Wikipedia)
Vue can import DEM files based on the USGS format.(USGS Digital Elevation Model Data - Vue Wiki)
Hope this helps,Ron
