Hi All
I have read everything I can find on this forum and am none the wiser, so I am hoping someone can help me please. I am trying to apply depth of field to a scene, preferably in the luxology render and not in post-processing with Photoshop.
So far, everything I have tried has not worked. Attached are the settings I am using, I have turned on DOF, set the F-stop and played with the anitaliasing a bit. I can't tell the difference between an image with it set and one with it turned off. I have set the focal length of the camera - am I correct is my assumption that the area that will be in focus is the yellow plane in the focal length tool and beyond that it will be out of focus? I suspect there is a setting I am missing, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Wendy,
If you want to see Depth of Field effects then you need to set the target closer to the camera at the distance you currently have it everything will be in focus. Set up a view where the camera is looking at something in the foreground no more than a meter or so then you should see the effect. The focal distance tool can be used to set this on an object in your scene.
Cheers,
Jerry
Thanks Jerry, looks like this is not the right tool for the purpose then. I have been looking in the handbook at ways to do it - mine is a bit out of date (v8), so I am struggling to find depth cuing and fog in CE, are these still relevant? I have quite a large scene and I just wanted the background to be a little obscure.
Ah ha! I found the fog settings - does the job!
Thanks for the help.
