Reference, Hiding line styles

Hi Everybody,

I am using Microstation Connect Update 6 version 10.06.00.38.

I have a view referenced into a drawing border, I have used a Display Style which has a Display rule to hide line styles 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 [basically anything which is not a solid line] However there appear to be some artifact still visible from certain elements.

With the above images the vessel is drawn with solid lines and dashed/ dotted etc line styles hidden. Both are referenced view set into a border in the design file However the engine [which is dashed] still shows in the referenced view on the left. The engine is pretty detailed with 9826 elements in a group set to a dotted line style [default number 1]. All other lines which are dotted/dashed etc are properly hidden. This happens fairly reliably with complex groups of elements e.g. engines, gearboxes etc.

Any thoughts as to why this maybe happening and how to remove the unwanted visuals from the coloured in reference?

  • Right, I basically just ignore this as it's not important. HOWEVER I have just updated to connect issue 10 and have found that items grouped together are shown which should be hidden using this Display rule. Once the items are un-grouped they are hidden. BUT the elements are grouped for a reason, so un-grouping them [while working for a visual pint of view] is not an acceptable work around...

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to rectify this, or can this issue be put through as an improvement recommendation / service ticket request?

  • I have noticed through testing with grouping just two elements, say you have a horizontal and vertical element, if you select the horizontal element first than the vertical and group them, the horizontal element is hidden and the vertical is shown.

If you reverse the selection choosing the vertical first and horizontal second, then the vertical is hidden and the horizontal element is shown.

Add a third element a diagonal. It appears the FIRST element selected within the group is hidden, whereas the subsequent elements in the group are not hidden.

So the first element has the display rule applied, and subsequent ones do not.

I have also found another thread dealing with a similar issue:-
