I am exploring night time rendering, and trying to put a 'glowing' light strip at the ground level a building to give it a 'floating' effect.
I have turned off all solar + skylights + ambient + flash in light setup.
Then I made a rentangular block with no thickness, and applied material (perspex yellow) and then in material editor changed the glow to 50 lumens.
Rendering in luxology, the yellow strip is visible and casts shadows on surrounding forms, but the effect is very blurry and pixelated - basically not very realistic.
Anybody having the same problem or have a better way in achieving what I want to do?
Thanks,
Kelvin Siu
I wonder about this. Is it possible to manually increase sample density in glowing materials, like you can with area lights? That way if somebody wants a really expensive glow light to do something particular with, they can have it.
If it is at all possible to make glow material work like an emitter in Maxwell many of us wold be greatful.

I have the same problem with glow materials.
Pete, can you have a look at the scene stairs.pzip uploaded to the ftp site? I am trying to illuminate this scene with candle flames using a glow material, but it looks like this:
