I am trying to render the same way I did with Microstation using AECOsim in Microstation mode. But it doesn't behave the same.
I use external .mat and .pal files for rendering, and AECOsim doesn't load them when I open a file like Microstation does.
This is what I get when I open the file in Microstation.
And this is what I get when I open the file in AECOsim.
How do I get AECOsim to open with the correct palatte attached ?
I have to manually attach it every time I open the file and also when I change models.
Regards
Michael.
I have not worked with AecoSim, but try to "safe settings" fro your dgn file in Mstn.
And another - try to place your .mat and .pal files in the same folder as your dgn file.
It seems that AecoSim does not know where to look for the .mat file.
Good luck, Nikolay

It's not that simple.
Microstation see's the .mat and .pal files fine. Something in AECOsim's setting's are different to Microstation, and that's where I need to make changes.
I've tried defining MS_Material in my .ucf file so it is the same as Microstation. But it still see's the AECOsim material .dgnlib files somehow.
from your screen shots it is clear, that AecoSim does not pick up .mat file and .pal file together.
Have you tried to "convert" the materials inside AecoSim to "external table + palette". That might made the trick for you.
Just in case there would be a SIG on 19th December for AecoSim

AECOsim does pick up .mat and .pal files together. It just doesn't do it like Microstation does the first time you open a file.
My current workaround is to open the file. Load a completely different .mat file. Then load the .mat file that is used for the rendering. This then loads everything properly, and the AECOsim .dgnlib files disappear.
The problem is that I have to do this every time I change a model, or change files. I don't have to do this with Microstation.

As I said, I have not worked with AecoSim...
If I understand you correctly:
1. open file in AecoSim - there are no materials (.mat & .pal)
load fake .mat
load correct .mat
all Good! Materials are loaded and ready for rendering.
save settings (Ctrl+F)
close the file
2. open same file in Microstation
all materials - OK
modify the model
save settings
3. open the file in AecoSim - get the problem as on step 1
:-( It might be a bug.
