Connect Edition: Rendering with distributed Rendering causes artefacts.

Hallo,

we experienced another issue. You can compare the two pictures below. The first image is rendered with distributed Rendering. The second with the same setups without distributed Rendering. The first image you cannot use. It´s splotchy and you see the stitching.

I hope someone can help in this issue.

Tank you

  • Hi Gerd,

The most likely cause would be that you started the DR job from your machine where it is rendering fine and the machine that created the LXO file was a machine on your network that for some reason did not have path set to all the materials or environment settings. Lets say you changed the environment on your machine and did not save the environment changes and then kick off the job on several machines in all likelihood your machine did not actually create the scene that all the other machines are using and BTW you could see some frames are right and some are wrong.

I usually make sure I save settings exit MicroStation and go back in before kicking off job. I believe Paul Chater made some changes to DR to help prevent this sort of issue that will guarantee the machine that you starts the job on is also the machine that creates the scene file. Make sure you are on latest version of CE. .Another tip if on older version would be to turn off the DR controller on the other machines and not start it until after your machine renders the first frame then start the controller on the other boxes this assures the data sent to job folder is identical to what you see on your box.

    Cheers,

    Jerry

  • Hi Jerry,

thanks for your answer. Nice to hear from you.

In the Image above there is the button I used. I didn´t have this scene opened on another machine. I just opened the File, then rendered the scene about the new possibility in the menu "distributed Rendering". All settings are correctly set, like you see in the image.

Jerry can you look after this. This is a new option and this is not working properly or can you show me a Scene where that works. On the first sight it works on the second it works not if you look more exactly on the image.

That´s extremely annoying, because distributed rendering causes extra costs as a Visa-Licence. So it has to work.

Please keep me updated, what Bentley will do on this issue.

    Kindly regards

    Gerd
