Hi, I believe this issue gets many users stuck in the reality model clipping , as the following posts :
communities.bentley.com/.../reality-model-clip-and-export-issue
communities.bentley.com/.../microstation-connect-update-8---reality-model-not-maintining-clip-in-lumen-rt-update-4
Unfortunately, you Bentley team always say:
“The issues should be fixed in the next release of MicroStation (Update 8) and LumenRT (Update 4)”
“Created Defect for same .Defect 863101:”
THESE ARE NOT THE ANSWER!
Now,I think you must know that the latest Microstation version is update 9, and it is Update 5 for LumenRT.
But I must tell you that, the BUG above does exist!!!!
Even I can not get the modeling work move on!
As JDL indicated that the concave shape mask won't get transfer to Lument RT, and I have repuduced this bug in my recent reality modeling work.
So, I suggest that Bentley development team use a complex shape to clip or mask 3sm reality model, and export to LumenRT U5, the complex shape must have many concave and convex features, because these complex features are very common in the reality modeling.
Hope your team can fix this classical bug as soon as possible!
Looking forward to your reply!
Chen Zhengpeng
Is there any specilist from Bentley who could explain this trouble? and have you tested this bug?
Hi Chen,
thanks for your feedback. We have been investigating this issue and it is due to how GPU clipping (a hardware feature used by LumenRT to represent the data on screen) works. We are going to evaluate a few possible ways to overcome this and will keep you posted.
Unfortunately I have to say again that the fix will be in one of the future releases of MicroStation and/or LumenRT.
Thanks,

Hi, Marco
Thanks for your reply, maybe you need my computer hardware and system information, as the following:
System: Windows 10 professional, version: 1709
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, Driver: the Latest version
Regards,
Thanks Chen, I will pass this information on to our development team.
Hi Chen, as a temporary workaround you could try to split your clipping shapes into triangles (or other convex shapes). MicroStation can export multiple clips to LumenRT so splitting the shapes should technically work. We will keep working to find a solution to this issue of course.

Marco
