Before you respond I am actually using AECOsim V8i Ss6 and I post this to their forums a few months ago and have not been able to get the right anwser so I was hoping someone here might be wiser.
Is it possible to create say a plan view and be able to see steelwork that is underneath a solid. This is possible through DEM but seems to have been forgotten about using Dynamic views.
I believe what you are looking for is it to display hidden edges.
In MicroStation one method would be to use the 'Apply Clip Volume' tool, and place a fitted section. ( Move the Cut plane above slab ) and align to the view. At this point you have your plan view with missing hidden line work below the slab.
Next open View Attributes and expand to see the Clip Volume settings and open up the Forward Display Style settings. Turn on 'Hidden Edges' and you will see the steelwork below the slab. ( Rather than altering the 'Forward' display style, which will affect other views where used you could create your own specific Display Style and ensure you use the switch ' Usable for Clip Volumes ).
Having got the view as required, you can create a Saved View and reference this into your sheet model or use the right click option to create the drawing.

It looks like I forgot to mention that I would like a cell pattern on the top face of the slab. This can be done when you cut through a solid and a hatch pattern can be applied but not when looking down from above.
Not sure how you have applied pattern to top face, you can use a Geometry Map when applying a material as per https://communities.bentley.com/products/building/building_analysis___design/w/building_analysis_and_design__wiki/23537/creating-a-geometry-map
If this is the case then same workflow appears to produce the result, but if not then may be you could provide all a sample and image to comment on.
