How to import sculptable terrain in LumenRT? 3sm is not enough as I can't modify it even if it is terrain 3sm and not reality model.
Hi Oto,
It is not possible to import sculptable terrain.
Only the predefined LumenRT terrains can be sculpted or painted.
Regards,
Alex
It appers only CityEngine export plugin exports sculptable terrains. But actually the result can be imported even without cityengine. All it does is produces dummy OBJ file which links Color and Height maps.It is imported using -f switch when running LumenRT.
Not sure why there is no GUI tool for this in LumenRT.

Hi Oto
This sounds very interesting. Would this work also for Microstation generated Obj files, if i convert a dgn that has terrain to Obj? And How exactly do you run that -f swich? ( step by step?)
regards Helge
See the attachment there is .cmd file which has the -f switch added. Other way is to click Start->Run and then Browse to LumenRT and then add -f switch to command line. Unfortunatley it seems will not work with normal OBJ files as this import uses fake OBJ and uses parameters from .lrtoptions XML file.
You can set the default scene which is used for importing by running C:\Program Files\Bentley\Bentley LumenRT CONNECT Edition - Update 10\LumenRT\bin\Optiondlg.exe and selecting default scene for export.
Forgot to add that this will work only with LumenRT full and not Designer license.
Alexandre, behind the other proprietary software and complicated tutorials, all ends up just generating a few plain files that are loaded with an open source XML file by LumenRT. Your 'predefined LumenRT terrains'. Shame.
