Hi,
LumenRT Update 10
When trying to apply a "grass" material to a large object, the scale of the grass material changes automatically to 0.1.
Because the area is large, I receive a message to say that the machine is out of memory (or something similar to that) and then the application crashes.
Is there a way to set/lock the scale so that it does not change to 0.1?
Very frustrating... cannot use the grass materials because of this.
Thanks,
Michael
Hi Michael,
I have not see this before when you say a grass material are you talking about one of the LumenRT grasses or a definition that came in when you exported the scene from MicroStation? What GPU and driver are you using?
Cheers,
Jerry
Hi Jerry,
one of the LumenRT supplied grass materials.
You'll see below and example of what happens.
When I change from a "material" that was applied to an object when it was exported from MicroStation to one of the LumenRT grass materials, the scale changes to 0.1.
This is fine for a small object, but when you apply grass to the existing terrain around a plant site, it simply runs out of memeory and crashes.
When applying a grass material, the "scale" setting is ignored and does not have real meaning.
If you change it's value, it will have no effect on the grass density.
Can you indicate the dimensions of your terrain (on which you apply grass) as well as the specs of your machine (CPU & GPU, system RAM & video RAM)?
Alex
Hi Alexandre,
area = 2.7km x 2.0km
Machine specs:
Processor: Intel Xeon E5-1620v3 Memory: 16GB Hard drive: 512 GB SSD Video card: Nvidia Quadro M4000 - 4gb
Hi Alexandre...
Any thoughts regarding the problem?
