Express Lane Ingress/Egress traffic animation workflow suggestions?

I'm working on putting together an animation for an Express Lanes project and was trying to understand the best workflow to show vehicles entering/exiting the express lanes.  See the red traffic flow arrows the attached image for the lane I'm having a hard time with.

The project is developing a center merge lane and I was having a hard time controlling the animation how it want it.  I've used Microstation Animations Tools to do the continuous express lanes and also the general purpose lanes. I've tried to use those tools set the middle lane a new lane, then use the exit link it from the express to the middle lane, than again from the middle lane to the general purpose.  It's not really working how I want it.

Is there a better way control the ramp links for this type of scenario?  If the animation tools work, then it seems like i could get it setup to fly through most of the project.  If i have to do a bunch of manual work to add a couple specific cars, I'll probably keep the animation to a specific example and limit the cars in the merge area.

Does the LumenRT traffic animation play well with the Microstation Animation?  IE can i do all the main through animation with MS, then just the merging traffic with LumenRT.

Would I be better off scripting everything in LumenRT.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
