I am new to lumen and have not done a lot of animation in microstation.
I have some cranes In microstation format I would like to show lifting and moving a load that I would like to place into a lumenrt scene.
Is this possible and how would I go about it?
If I animated my crane in microstation or something else can I some how get that into lumenRT.
LumenRT currently does not support MS object animations. This is on the LumenRT development roadmap for 2019.

Hi David, I try to make imported objects like a radar antenna, propeller and wind generator blades rotate in LumenRT. Understand from this discussion that this function is not available yet, but being worked on. Will it be included in the upcoming Update 15? Will animated FBX files then work as well? Similar with animations made in MicroStation?
You can import Collada and FBX animations into LumenRT now. I user Blender for this all the time.
Thanks for the tip. I tried a FBX from 3ds Max that did not work.
David,That's nice to hear.
Any news on support for MicroStation based animations, which has been on the "LumenRT development roadmap" for years??
Hi Ron, we have experimented with a number of prototypes for MS --> LumenRT animations and there are a bunch of issues for trying to to make this work in a generalized way.. We are working on an iModel/iTwin approach for this which provides much more fine-grained control on object meshes and hierarchies, You can see the early work on this by what we accomplished for the Synchro Integration in LumenRT Update 15. I may reach out to you at some point to share what we are thinking on this.
Try an OpenCollada export from Max and see if that works
David,Please do!I'm always willing to help!
