Hi
I was trying to export to obj or fbx a mesh ( standard microstation mesh ) terrain with a photo textured on it. I added a jpg arial photo to raster manager, positioned/scaled/rotated the picture and used the dc drape pallet. All works fine in Microstation Connect update 12. When i try to export this to obj or fbx the exporting prossess seams to be stuck. Im wondering if this is possible to export at all, or if there is any other way i can make it possible.
Regards
Helge
Hi Helge,
As a workaround you can look in the properties of the image in the raster manager.
Make a new material, add the same texture, set projection to drape and use the same properties as in the raster manager.
When you now export the object, it should keep it’s projection. If not, do the same in Microstation SelectSeries 4.
Another benefit of this method (not tested in Connect U 12), is the quality.

Hi Louis
Thanks for the tip, I will give it a try tomorrow. Quick question, is it possible to move/ rotate and scale the arial picture in to position using this method? As you probably understand I’m not very experienced creating materials
Hi Louis. Your workaround works fine in V8i but not in connect. Thanks
Hi Jean,
I Haven’t tried to export geometry in the last version of Connect. In the previous versions of Connect however, there was a bug, that Made a mess of materials on objects exported to fbx, obj, etc. In this Community there where several posts About this subject.
Hi Louis.
Yes there are still bugs in Connect when exporting to fbx or obj ( i reported it again for Connect update 12 when trying to get this working ), so unfortunaltely you will hape to use V8i for this.
