I'm working with a file that has 3 models, each with a flat 3km x 3km polygon.
To each polygon, I have assigned a 10,000 x 10,000 pixel TIF aerial image (approx 300Mb each). These are mapped using elevation drape.
As I flip through the models, Microstation takes a really long time to load each image.
I have tried converting the images to JPG (thinking it might be a SSD bottleneck in loading the files), but there has been no improvement.
Is there anything else I can try to speed up loading these mapped images? It feels like some kind of cache delay issue.
The problem occurs in both V8i and CONNECT.
Windows 10 Pro, HP z640, 2x Xeon 2660 CPU, 32Gb RAM, NVIDIA Quadro M4000 (8GB)
Thanks Ron - I forgot to mention that the same image is draped over many solids too (existing extruded buildings). It would take quite a bit of work to get each quartered image to locate correctly and map to those solids accurately.
I don't usually have this problem, my project is usually just in the Default model - but in this case I have three different parts to the project, so I'm working in three Models in one file. I'd like to be able to work in one Model at a time, but Microstation seems to want to load the materials for the others Models even if I'm not working in them. I'll try to make the issue clearer if I get a chance to do screenshots/ videos tomorrow.
