I'm having an issue with LumenRT thinning out the trees when photo or video rendering the model. However, in real time, the full tree models are shown.
Real time: Rendered:
In the renders, it looks as though the trees are just trunks and branches with no leaves/needles. It doesn't matter what quality setting I set the renders to, the result is the same. I could see this being a hardware limitation, as the machine this is running on uses a Quadro P1000, but it doesn't make sense to me that it can display the full models in real time without a hiccup, yet fails to render them. A screen shot of the model looks better than using LumenRTs renderer at this point.
Thanks for any help,
David
Hi David,
What version of LumenRT are you using and what did you set for the photo options Fast, Standard or Super fine?
Cheers,
Jerry
LumenRT Update 10 and I have the same result using both Standard and Super Fine.
Here are another couple of comparison shots:
The left image is a 4k still with Standard quality. The right image is a snip of the real-time model.
I have seen the same issue. The problem is most apparent with the evergreen trees with needles, like douglas firs. As the level of detail drops for trees that are further away from the camera, the small limbs with needles disappear to quickly. The rendered LOD is definitely not equivalent between real-time view vs rendered view.
We have ended up using some low-poly fir trees we purchased from TurboSquid. I exported them to .vob files, then renamed them as .lob file, so we could use them within LumenRT.
