Hello, after updating to connect 13, the view brithness become very dark ! I had lost all the good settings I put for printing.
see image with update 12 and 13 :
I have no time to try to find solution in the update 13. juste uninstall to find again the good settings !!!!!
also problems when selecting lines or solids in a personal display style in wirefrime : a white selection appear all around the line or solids.
Is someone have the same problem ?
Regards,
Fabrice
Hi Fabrice,
The Tone Mapper for QuickVision has changed to Filmic to support PBR materials, also turns out there was a bug in old method that allowed you to get the results that you see in previous versions. If you apply PBR material to your model it will appear much brighter. I have added a new monochrome display style in the attached dgnlib if you replace the one here( for Update 13 only) C:\Program Files\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\MicroStation\Default\Dgnlib\DrawComp\en with this one you will see Monochrome:PBR try that vs old Monochrome:Shadows to see the difference. You can also adjust the lighting with Light Manager by increasing ambient, adding flash and reducing solar intensity,

Hi Jerry,
I'm a little lost with the new display. Now changeing solar intensity makes no difference. Also cloudiness and air quality. Is it right ?
So now how to see the difference with these settings ? Even with fast preview I don't see difference with the shadow ! Do we have to attach pbr material to every solids ?
what will be the futur of render ? Vue will be the new render ? but when. for now with update 13 I can't use solar !
and I have an other problem, I see your PBR style with v8i update 10 but not with connect 13 ! it is there but not possible to use it !
Help please !
The Monochrome PBR style will not work for V8i only Update 13 supports PBR. In light Manager make sure the Display Brightness is set for Brightness Multiplier and not Adapt to Brightness. You should see the results of changing the ambient, flash and solar intensity in shaded views. Once you have a PBR material you still need to have a display style that sets the background and reflection for best results.

thank you for the links. I will have to take time to learn deaper this new quickvision display, but now I can see the sky on my water tank :-) :-) :-)
While I have shown PBR several times over the past year during my monthly Visualization SIGs MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 13 was not out. Now that it is I plan to talk about getting started with Physically Based Rendering (PBR) materials during this month SIG. I will show how to hook up the PBR materials and also cover the differences in the new tone mapper that causes the brightness issue with old files and how to setup your scene so you can even better results than ever with this update.
I hope to see you there and please spread the word.
September Visualization SIG note there is a time change for first one which will start at 12:00 noon Eastern instead of the usual 11:00AM
I watched the SIG, but when you can't do in the same time, i find more difficult to understand everything and to remember.
thank you for the link, i will be there ;-)
I tried to print to 3D PDF. I was thinking with this new quickvision, it would be possible to have reflection and bump maps in the PDF. But not ! To do that there was acrobat 3D. we juste add a map for reflection and for bump. do you think it will be possible to print with pdf 3d with the same possibilities as with acrobat 3d using PBR? I think acrobat was using Deep exploration kit to do it.
And is this new fonctionality will allow in a near future to creat baking texture like it was possible with particule trace ?
