I was having problems with rendering earlier with washed out renders, so I reinstalled Connect update 12 as 13 doesn't work for me, anyway I tried rendering again and same thing happened, I did notice that only 2 default display styles appeared in the display styles list which were illustration and illustration:modelling, possibly suggesting that the download was not complete, although the finished dialogue box appeared.
I have attached a couple of washed out renders from earlier, I do not have any additional light sources switched on other than the light probe with the default settings, these both had the brightness dialled down to -4 , but as you can see completely washed out.
Any idea's how to solve this one would be much appreciated

Can you give us some more information on your settings ?
If you change the brightness mode on the render dialog to Brightness Adaptation you can get a larger range of values to tone map your image. Right click the mouse by the brightness text item in the render dialog to see the available modes.
On the Environment manager dialog, by the options for the light probe there is a Lux slider, this allows you to modify the brightness of the probe image, you can try changing this also.
