Camera 'Clip Front' not rendering solids with fill

Hi All,

I have been trying to get a fly through animation working with a cutting plane... I have tried several different approaches (including setting a cut plane/section box as an actor to follow the path) and although they moved in the view, the 'cut' location didn't update. The only way I found to achieve an animated clipping plane was using the 'Define Camera' tool and adjust the front clip distance; then when animating the camera it updated the clip along with it. The issue with this approach is the 'Front Clip' does not seem to apply a cut symbology/pattern on the solid objects, so they appear only as surfaces which is far from ideal. Does anyone know how to combat this issue? Any alternative workflows that may work? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here is a sample of what I want to achieve:

Here is what it looks like once the front clip cuts through the solids:

Thanks,

  • Found a feature that is available with Luxology rendering 'Render Boolean'. I could animate this solid which creates the correct cut geometry, however rendering is a lot slower and not providing the results I am after. The animations are for engineering review so I really don't want a 'realistic' look, rather just a flythrough animation, displayed as the model is normally presented in a 3d view. It would be nice if Bentley would allow cut planes to be utilised within Animations in future releases...

Does anyone know of a way to achieve the same result that the 'Render Boolean' provides, without having to resort to luxology renders?
