FaceMe JPEG file in LumenRT?

Is there a way to place a "FaceMe" PNG or JPEG file in LumenRT?

Looking to place a road sign in the model that will always face the viewer- just like the FaceMe mode in the place text tool.

  • Hi Ariel - It's unlikely that your request (as translated into an enhancement request by Harshad) would be attended to that soon.

It might take weeks or months before they get around to it.

Looking at your specific requirement for your 2D planes to "always face the viewer", I actually wonder if they would do this at all - the LumenRT developers are aiming to create a "real world" platform, which by definition would never have road signs swinging around to face a viewer as one approaches them. David even suggests this in his initial response. They've answered some of my requests using this argument in the past. It's probably one of the reasons they have still not offered an orthogonal camera as I have requested. Their argument would be that in the real world, everything is seen in perspective and not flat on. The same would apply to your road signs.

  • Hi Max,

Thank you for the explanation. What they are doing does make sense, I do like how the developers are creating very real 360 environment details.

I have a very large project that the viewer flies around the model at a wide array of elevations, I was attempting to add large logos that would be seen no matter what direction the camera was to give the viewer a frame of reference for where they were located.

I have found multiple options for a workaround, just didn’t know if this would be possible in LumenRT.
