Just changed to Windows 10 platform and about to get Microstation V8i Series 4 as I was told my existing Series 3 would not work on Windows 10.
To my surprise I found it appears to be working (opened files and tried a few basic functions, all OK).
Can anyone advise, if using Series 3 on Windows 10 and if they found any problem?
I am not sure why you posted this question to Visualization forum, but anyway...

Who did tell you this information?
Any version older than V8i (SELECTseries 4) is not certified for Windows 10 (I hope I remember it right), but it does not mean it does not work. It only means that the version was not tested in such environment and when any issue will appear, Bentley support will not react.

My experience is that it works quite fine on Windows 10, but I also remember some discussions about issues with printing. You should also be aware SELECTserver will be switched off at the end of 2020, so the only supported V8i version will become V8i (SELECTseries 10) using the same licensing mechanism as CONNECT Edition.

I can confirm that for me at least, V8i SS3 has worked without a problem on Window 10 for many years now.
I've seen the notifications about the SELECTserver being switched off in 2020 but I really don't know what that means with regard to my MicroStation V8i SS3 license. Does it mean that support will cease but the software will continue to run? Surely MicroStation SS3 will continue to run beyond that time? Is this a correct interpretation?

I recommend to ask in licensing forum. I do not recall such information / explanation, but maybe it was discussed already.
Many thanks Jan and Andrew, and sorry if I am on the wrong group but I use Microstation for Visualization/3D designs as well as very basic drafting as single unit. Therefore, those functionality on Windows 10 are critical. I am checking with Bentley why I was advised last year by them that I needed Series 4. I will try other forums also.
In my initial tests, I found so far one problem: I could not copy from one reference file so far – select tool just would not select the elements to copy – to the file I am working on. Other files I tried are OK to copy. Can you advise why that might be? The files I could not copy was from an old design – of 15 years if relevant but other files of the same age are copying?
As I am retiring sole practitioner architect, I do not use any sophisticated tools/cloud/BIM etc. However, I will work on designs and some speculative works with not much hope of fee earning (as my 3rd carrier in architecture? at the age of 73). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqTxeyk5fuY&feature=youtu.be & www.aplusd.co.uk
Thanks again and any further advise you can offer.

It's simple: As I wrote, your version is not certified for Windows 10. It means even when V8i SS3 is still supported, it's not supported officialy in Windows 10 environment. So it makes sense to motivate users to move to the latest version(s).
BTW Be aware that all "not CONNECT versions" will become unsupported completely from July 1st. The only version that will remain is V8i (SELECTseries 10).
