Material Mapping Export Woes from UStn to LumenRT

I am exporting two site terrain surfaces with my model into LumenRT. A larger sized one for the greater site. and a Smaller one with more terrain detail as well as a more detailed image. The smaller one "sits" in the larger one.

When I export my buildings and terrain models, the larger one exports it's draped material attachment just fine. However the smaller one does not. It seems to change the material mapping to a tiled mapping instead of mapping across the entire surface. Both Materials were made in the same way in the material editor.

When I export the smaller terrain model alone into LumenRT, it exports just fine and has the expected mapping.

Am I exceeding some kind of buffer? I can't figure out why the mapping gets corrupted. Suggestions?

OpenBuildings Microstation Connect Edition Update 6 - Version 10.06.03.04

Bentley LumenRT CONNECT Edition - Update 13

NOTE: I am using a brain-dead machine that my employer has assigned to me. It doesn't have a good graphics card. It has the on-board Intel GPU which uses extended memory. I get the dreaded "The dedicated Video Memory (VRAM) on your video card is not sufficient to render LumenRT LiveCubes correctly (128MB detected)."

  • Would it be possible to share the files for testing?

    https://bentley.sharefile.com/r-r397a9fbf9514f4fb

As a test try the following:

    1. export the model with just the detailed terrain section

    2. If successful save the lumen file

    3. in the dgn file turn the larger terrain on and reexport the model. This should take advantage of the sync feature and just update the lumen file to include the larger terrain.

  • David,

    Thanks much for the response.

I tried your suggestions, but no luck. I spent the morning trying some different things, again with no luck. I have re-built the entire surface file from scratch to ensure that no materials exist which might stomp on the old ones. I also re-built the materials. No luck. Well, I say no luck, but I exported just the surface file this morning after all my re-builds and it came out tiled. I thought, "Gosh DARN, I'm worse off than before. The I tried to uncheck the X & Y "Repeat" boxes on the material and tried it again and it came out perfectly draped. I thought, "WOW, that's it" But I could never get my project file to every repeat the feat.

I copied the files to the share drive link you sent. The files are as follows:

LANL Master.dgn - The master file where I attach all the other files.

48-...-FGV_PHASE_1.dgn - The Phase 1 buildings for the project

48-...-FGV_PHASE_2.dgn - The Phase 2 buildings for the project

Terrain - Site.dgn - The problem file. I use this to clone the material and file for the other two files.

Terrain - Site - Phase 1.dgn - Same as the "Terrain - Site.dgn" file, but with a different material (image).

Terrain - Site - Phase 2.dgn - Same as the "Terrain - Site.dgn" file, but with a different material (image).

Tom_Materials.dgnlib - My material library which I have located in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Organization\Materials

Los Alamos Terrain.dgn - This is the larger site surface. It has been exporting just fine. As far as I can recall, it and the materials were created the same way as the "Terrain - Site" files, but it exports just fine.

The .jpg's are the images I used to create the materials.

+ Please note that I am attaching most materials and not assigning them.

+ The original source for the models was Revit. The individual models were exported to .IFC format. The IFC's were opened in Microstation and then saved as v8 design files.

+ While my install is for OpenBuildings, I am opening the files using the Microstation link, not OpenBuildings. I do this so that I have a consistent workspace for all of the files.

I included a .txt file with my contact information including my cell number. Please give me a call if you want to discuss anything.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
