Visualization Animation FAQ step by step instructions?

Hello All!

Is there a step by step instructions on how to create a simple fly through animation?

How to create Actors, Cameras, Targets, Define Paths etc. etc.

Thank you.

  • Alex hi,

In simple: try to start by small steps, it is not too hard, especially at the beginning. Remember - always break your task in smaller one.

Animation is Mstn is quite massive topic; therefore:

    Reminder! Key Frame animation.

Key Frames always come in pairs: Start - End. Time difference between them - is length of your animation. NTSC 30 frames per sec (1 sec video): Key Frame 1 - 0; Key Fram 2 - 29 (frames) and so on...

Your view window is a camera. Your Saved Views - is fixed camera positions. Create 2 points  in the view to look on your model (project) (start and end); then KeyFrame both position (script the Save Views) in the Animation Producer.

Hurray this is your very quick animation.

It is not EXACTLY as you dream, but that is the start.

Then: camera in an ACTOR (i.e. an object); When you have "saved view" you don't see that "object"; therefore is a little bit tricky to work with. When you "create" a camera, then Mstn creates an object that can be played with. You can attach an actor to the "path". Path is a B-spline or any curve, or complex chain.

Using "path", you need only 1 camera. When you "script" that camera, it will use two points "starting point on the line" and "finish point on the line" (2 key frames, you see).

Now: camera should be pointed to something, right? Use a "TARGET". Target is an ACTOR as well. Target can be a FIXED object, just don't move the target. Then you attach the target to the camera. So camera can be pointed to that target. Target Active - camera looks to the target. Target disabled - camera looks along the path. Then target can be moved from 1 place to another. Position of the target is KeyFrames for that target.

and more more more... think logically.

Very quickly from simple animation you will get the very complex. Keep your head from spinning.

Everything is possible in this world.

    Hope that helps.
