LumenRT Will Not Start - Gives a Activation Error

I have installed Microstation Update 14. However, LumenRT will not start after the uptate. LumenRT says that I need a CONNECT Edition application installed and activated on my PC. Microstation CONNECT Edition Update 14 - Version 10.14.00.109 is installed and is activated. I also have OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT Edition Update 6 - Version 10.06.03.04, which is installed and activated.

  • Have you solved this yet? I am having the same issue. Just updated OBD update 7.

  • Well, in a manner I solved it. I went back to LumenRT v13. Not what I wanted to do, but I didn't have much other choice.

I believe it might be that I had selected the "LumenRT Designer" for installation instead of "Bentley LumenRT." When I run the Bentley Licensing Tool (On the Window's menu under Connection Client), it does not show "LumenRT Designer." I only see that our company has a license for "Bentley LumenRT." So, I believe that was the problem. I believe the error message is misleading. (Bentley, please weigh in on my guesswork.)

To revert back to the earlier version, I went into Window's Setup|Apps and uninstalled LumenRT Designer v14. Then I started MicroStation, with the Visualization Workflow active. I clicked on the LumenRT button from the Home menu. Microstation initiated a dialog box which asked if I wanted to install LumenRT. I clicked yes and re-installed the product. Everything works well now, but I have Bentley LumenRT v13.

Hopefully someone from Bentley will respond to us soon and give us some direction.

  • You are trying to use LumenRT Designer or Pro?

How did you update to U14 (before reverting)?

Do you have the latest Connection Client?

    Regards,
    Robert

  • That's all up to Bentley. I update according to their CONNECTION Client. What and how are in Bentley's realm. Their CONNECTION Client tells us what to update and it selects the order.

  • So, everything should be up to date. Could be that after the update something left from the older software which resulted in this… Best option would be do a clean installation. First completely uninstall Lumen and after that re-install MS with it:

    • open this file "C:\ProgramData\e-onsoftware\LumenRT 2016.reg" in a text editor and take note of the line starting with "InstallFolderPath:". For example "InstallFolderPath:C:\Program Files\Bentley\Bentley LumenRT CONNECT Edition - Update 14"
    • uninstall LumenRT normally
    • manually delete the folder noted above in step 1
    • manually delete the file "C:\ProgramData\e-onsoftware\LumenRT 2016.reg" if it still exists
    • Re-install MS with LumenRT

You can also check Bentley Licensing Tool, refresh the policy. Open MS and export something to Lumen for the first time, this way it should register it.
