Is this faster in new CONNECT ?
I mean - everytime i use material editior - even only change name - i must waiting and waiting. Why ?
Its only text in database i think. I change the SSD to the NVME and still this is so slow , material editor read something - geometry ? why ? I only want to change name or add new material.
See attachments.... Its taking many seconds.... Maybe i not understand this - but for example Google search can find many images, words, pages in one second, and local material editior is working slow.
It is so frustrating after years.

Which version of CONNECT are you running? Where are the materials located and how are they defined in the configuration variables?

I Have noticed the same issue, with every connect release in OBD, opening the material editor takes LOOONG and makes the application clunky, all the system files are locally stored and new material pallets are stored in the same location as the delivered ones, one will still experience a lag in opening material editor with an out of the box installation.i have resorted to docking the panel on the side but the delay is the same.

Material are stored in project folder directly. On Nvme drive. But as i remeber always material editor works slowly if you have many palletes and material. Just need rewrite this system. In my opinion but i am not expert - it is simple database. Only text. It seems that it read all pallettes and materials and textures don't know from... every shape, mesh or something ? after every open. And after any change, name of material, brightness value etc
V8 - unload pallettes - still waiting ... 10 minutes
"searching..." for what ? "3946.." of ?
I think material editor stayed the same as 10 - 15 years ago when you have one model and simple 10 pieces library. And image texture have 100 kb.
Now you have tousend heavy textures, tousend library, 3d warehouse, 3ds models with textures etc... Need refreshing.
