Export view animations to LumenRT

I have a large city model with multiple camera animations along paths for each street. These are set up as scripts in Microstation's Animation Producer.

When exporting to LumenRT, only one of these scripts come through as the "Imported Clip" - where are the others?

Also, where are Microstation's Saved Views, which should come through as Imported Clips?

Thanks,

Max

  • Hello Max,

Can you please share the file with us?

We will have a look what is the issue.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks Ankur,

I'm unable to share the original file, so I've created a simple test case (attached).

This DGN contains two animated cameras; SOUTH-NORTH and WEST-EAST. I've scripted both cameras to drive through the city blocks along their designated paths. There are therefore two scripts in the DGN; "SOUTH NORTH" and "WEST-EAST". I've also created two saved views called "VIEW FROM THE SOUTH" and "VIEW FROM THE EAST".

As outlined in my original post - only one of the animation scripts come through to LumenRT (the active script). Where is the other one?

Also, none of my two saved views come through into LumenRT. I would have expected all four items to come through.

  • Hi Max,

Here are the steps I used to get both of your animations into a single LumenRT file:

    1. In MicroStation the SOUTH-NORTH script was active in the Animation Producer
    2. Export to LumenRT
    3. In LumenRT rename Imported Clip, (I renamed it NS)
    4. Save and Close LumenRT
    5. In MicroStation open WEST-EAST script in the Animation Producer
    6. Export to LumenRT
    7. In LumenRT rename Imported Clip, (I renamed it WE)
    8. Save in LumenRT

Now both animations are in LumenRT. Renaming Imported Clip makes that name available again for the next exported clip from MicroStation.

While this worked, it is not a perfect solution. I didn't get any saved views exported to LumenRT.

I think you may loose the ability to export saved views if you also have an active script because LumenRT uses Imported Clip as the destination of saved view exports and animation script exports. This only allows one script or one set of saved views to be exported to LumenRT

    What Bentley should do:
When you export from MicroStation it should give you an imported clip for each script with the same name as each original script and create a clip called Imported Views with each keyframe named for the MicroStation saved view it represents.

    Ron

  • Thanks Ron - thoughtful and creative solutions as always.

You're right, not a perfect solution - and definitely more work required from Bentley to get this working properly.

I agree with calling Microstation's Saved Views something like Imported Views when they're sent to the LRT file. "Imported Clip" is an inaccurate description of these saved camera locations which were never intended to be linked into a video clip.

    Thanks again,

    Max
