CE Update 16 - Luxology no longer available

It seems Luxology is no longer available as a rendering option with the latest CE Update 16. The announcement was made in the general Microstation Forum, but not here in the Visualization Forum, which I would have thought should be the case.

This post is just to warn users that their current projects which rely on Luxology rendering would be forced to use Path Tracing/ Ray Tracing - this could be a problem if you have imminent deadlines which rely on render settings already established in CE15 and earlier. Fortunately, v8i SS10 is still available to perform these renders if you have it installed.

I've not had time to test the Vue renderer - and it may turn out to be an improvement - but just thought people subscribed to this forum should be informed.

  • Hi Paul,

I confess to being extremely frustrated by the difficulty of getting a reasonable result for water, materials, and environment with C16 and Vue.
Having spent all morning trying everything I cannot find a set of PBR materials that I can use, I need water, wood, metal, and glass, (not manhole covers or bricks)
The best result I got after several hours is the attached image ….Explorer-00
However, the screenshot shows what I get , with Lumenrt, in 20 minutes including all the material attributions, the water and most of the rest is much better than Vue and I can add people, plants and other .obj content without a problem.

Why can Microstation be simpler to use and provide the sort of material library that is available with Sketchup for example ?
