I am landscape architect and urgently need proper looking 3D trees and other vegetation in my landscape models. Now that Bentely doesn't support RPC cells in the new VUE rendering engine I wonder what is the new procedure to get natural looking people, trees etc. in Microstation models and how to render them efficently? There are lots of third party 3D-tree cells available but they are so large and memory consuming that using them wastes tons of time, especially if one need them more than one. And how about people? Most of 3D-models of humans look like a a 3D-model of a human.
In fact i am using xfrog trees when rendering in Microstation. But yes they consuming a lot of memory, but you can use it as shared cells or use xfrog editor to lower tree meshes. I am using some 3d people or 2d in postproduction...or use other software for renders. Propably we need waiting for Vue library?
I have searched for VUE trees & plants but couldn't find any in MS CE16 installation package. Was there some VUE trees included?
Hi Yrjo,
The MicroStation cells for LumenRT content are delivered in the following location:
C:\ProgramData\Bentley\connectsharedcontent\CellsForLumenRT
Hi Ron,
I am aware of Lumen RT tree cells but they are not really useful for our projects because they look so unnatural (cheapish low-poly 3D look) and most of the tree and shrub species in the library don't even grow here in Scandinavia. My custom RPC cells look better by a huge margin but unfortunately CE16 does not render them any more.
I thought that VUE render should make nice looking foliage but I can't find information how it works of any samples to try with.
