I was informed LumenRT 16.16 was going be released 1 - 2 months ago.

The frustrating thing is that any suggestion of an imminent release seems to be completely speculative. Some quotes from Bentley people in the forums;
18 Jun – “It will be out in next few weeks from now”
29 Jun – “we are going to release the LumenRT update 16 very soon”
30 Jul – Bentley LumenRT Update 16 Enhancements posted to the Visualization Wiki – note this is three months ago. Why publish this list and have users wait more than three months before we get to experience those "enhancements"?
26 Aug – “we are about to release the update 16. Just a couple of week or less than that”
21 Oct – “we are now very close to release date hope fully next week”
It would be so useful to at least get a reliable sense of their timeframes – we need to plan projects and assess which software to use in each case.
To Bentley’s credit, they have fed me with occasional Beta builds of 16, but I’m still unable to determine if installing the latest build will give me a “production certified” tool to work with on projects with looming deadlines. Disturbingly, I’m told that an important piece of development is postponed until Update 17.

Also, Connection Client always seems to be the last to know about any updates.
