In MS U17, the light manager no longer includes the expert tab which enables selection of indirect/direct, reflection/refraction and shadow settings.
Is this deliberate? And if so, how am i expected to control the above without it?
maybe because there is no more luxology engine
Nope, because this morning I have opened another file in a different project, and the expert settings are visible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHY?
Hi,
The expert panel specifically relates to Luxology settings so was removed. Are you sure your running the same version of Microstation. Those UX items arent in the resource so shouldnt be visible.
Paul
Hi Paul,
Just realised I opened an OBD session on this occasion. Though is OBD 9.2 so would have expected luxo settings to be removed there also as there is no luxo here....Question remains though, how can I control reflection/refraction and indirect settings on vue. there are a couple of tabs on the ray trace settings, but nothing on Path Trace
I suspect that for that version of OBD, you can use a feature aspect for turning luxology on. The path tracer is an unbiased render engine and is physically accurate, so the characteristics of the lighting and materials determine the image. It means there are a lot less settings necessary for producing images, but the settings which bias the result by not making the characteristics of lights and materials not physically accurate are removed.
