Anyone know the meaning of this error message, and what can be done to avoid it?
It seems to happen only when I open the Material Editor in a particular DGN file. The file has a couple of complex meshes with 8000x 8000 pix JPG materials assigned (Elevation drape).
This is a high-spec notebook (64Gb RAM, RTX A5000).
Microstation v8i 08.11.09.919
Thanks,
Max
hello Max, did you try it on a Connect Edition version? the problem with V8i version is an 32 bits systems, so MicroStation V8i only can use 3gb of RAM and 1GB for graphics, you can see on the next wiki the differences with Connec Edition. https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/b/microstation_blog/posts/performance-enhancement---file-opening-time-for-microstation-connect-edition-update-13-vs-v8i-ss4 and the last version MicroStation Connect Edition Update 17 is better than in the wiki said
Hi Max, make sure the material does not have displacement or fur.
Thanks Jerry - no displacement or fur, just a simple 8000 pixel JPG draped over terrain.
I followed Carlos' suggestion and tried the file in CE, it's working fine in the 64bit world, although I still have misgivings about CE functionality and would prefer to keep working on the file in v8i.
It's fine for now - I use CE to export to FBX for my GPU rendering (which is not LumenRT!)
