Microstation Connect Update 17 - Material assignment problems

Hi,

I've finally started using the connect edition of Microstation and am getting some very odd behaviour with material assignments etc. This is an old model (from V8i) but I have converted all solids to Parametric.

Please see the video that I think shows what's happening. MS_Material_issue.mp4

Open standard palette.

Assign a material.

Assign a second material - Alter rotation of pattern map - 90 degrees

First material disappears even though still assigned - Reassign material

Open second palette - assign material

Open third Palette - assign material

delete assignment - all materials disappear even though assignments are still there?

Any ideas?? I can attach the dgn if this helps.

Thanks

Steve

  • Good morning,

I don't know if it's related to the topic but during this WIP render in MSCE 10.17.2 it happened several times, manipulating the dimensions and rotations of the textures in the pbr channels, that during the processing the materials disappeared, while remaining visible in the views, unlike the video attached to this post.

Then the problem resolves itself by simply restarting the MSCE. The file is new and native to 3DMetricdesign seed, only set in millimeters, internal precision 10000mm/1 solid.

  • Hi Diego,

So you are saying the materials were correct in shaded views but were not visible in the VUE render?  Where are the textures being read from the local drive or a network drive? If restarting MicroStation fixed the problem then it sounds like either a memory glitch or MicroStation could not find the textures at render time. Be sure to post if the same thing happens again also open the message center before restarting MicroStation to see if there are any errors.

    Cheers,

    Jerry
