Draping an aeral photo over a dtm mesh?

I tried to drape a georeferenced aerial photograph over a DTM mesh following video tutorials but didn't succeed. I wonder what I did wrong:

1. I attached the aerial photo as raster reference and ticked on 'draping' from descriptions

2. I created a new material palette with a new material called 'dcdrape' and selected special/dcdrape for the pattern map

3. Then I assigned the material 'dcdrape' to my terrain mesh and turned on quick view mode illustration

4. My DTM mesh stays gray. The areal photo is not draped over it

I am using Microstation 2023 (23.01.00.44).

  • In your first image, it appears you are right clicking the column header in Raster Manager, then enabling Draping. This action does not set Draping for that raster. It only adds the Draping field to the column listing in Raster Manager.

Select the raster, then change the draping setting via the Properties window. Now that you've added Draping as a field in Raster Manager, you could also just scroll to the right and enable it there. Maybe you've already tried that?
