With some testing I found out that the problem was that the project folder name had some special characters in it, like Estonian letter "ä" that is not part of English alphabet. Probably, Thomas, you had the same issue. I suggest that there can be fix in FBX exporter - please, Bentley programmers, take a look into it.

RE: experience with fbx export?

I do get fbx-files if I try export from a file with one solid and and a ABD-wall.
But - but my full model gives zero-size fbx.

So something is disturbing the export.
thanks for answer and suggestions. He asked for fbx - so I try fbx first.

Good to here it works from ustn. That is one alternative route.

Let's see what B comes up with first.

RE: experience with fbx export?

I stopped using ABD so cannot test it here, anyway plain 3D from MS exports correct FBX files. have you tried to export data from the pure MS (just to avoid locked elements by ABD)?

btw, I suppose the rendering guy is using some Adesk product (Max, Maya) as he asks for FBX. you could try him with OBJ file instead .. could you share part of the model to test?

RE: experience with fbx export?

Peter

what exactly are you trying? do you use some vertical product (Aecosim)? what is the message after export (should be "export successful" what application do you use to open exported FBX?
