Hey Everyone,
What can I do to avoid this speckle complication I have going on? My settings are exterior good, untitled lights (nothing other than the lights in the seen are on), untitled environment. Any suggestions as to why I'm getting these "ghosts" all over the place? Also, does anyone have a 500w quartz floodlamp (metal halide I think) .ies file. I tried to get one from Lithonia and they don't have the one I'm looking for so I have to find a substitute.
Using the latest version of SS3 with an Nvidia K600, dual dual core xeons, 16gb ram.
TIA,
To get rid of those splotches for the material near the source light (for example the lamp's reflector) should have (on the Expert Tab) Visible to Indirect Rays turned off.
If you use any subsurface scattering or translucency for the lens you should in the render settings Global Illumination tab set Subsurface Scattering to be Both instead of direct only. You can use Exterior Good but an extra Indirect Bounce might be useful for this scene you get that by using Interior Good. I would recommend you use Gaussian for the Antialais filter instead of Mitchell-Netravali.
Cheers

Victory! Thanks Jerry!
FWIW I will be doing a lecture on substation visualization at the LEARNing Conference in Towson Maryland next month.
Are you going?
Jerry
Hey Jerry,
I would love to go. I'll see if I can get free to make it.
