I have a *.lrt file that crashes when it attempts to open. How do I recover this corrupt file?
The file itself has been corrupted most likely to the point of no return. Usually once a livecube has become corrupt, there is not much that can be done about that file. Fortunately, when you export out to LumenRT from MicroStation, a .bak file of the same name is also created. Follow the following steps to recover your data in LumenRT.
1. Rename your original *.lrt file as the same name but add "-corrupt" at the end. EX: "Lumen_Test.lrt" becomes "Lumen_Test-corrupt.lrt". This is so you are able to determine between your corrupt original and the backup.
2. Rename the *.bak file that was created with the *.lrt file to the exact same name the file had previously INCLUDING the file extension. EX: "Lumen_Test.bak" becomes "Lumen_Test.lrt". This new file will have all of the same modifications made to the previous files as the *lrt and the *bak files are constantly updated together.
3. Open the newly renamed .lrt file, and it should open just fine. Your data is recovered!.
