Assign global origin
To assign the global origin, key in active origin or GO = [Enter] and you'll be the tool settings dialog will present two modes:
Monument Point which allows you to punch in your own values that will be assigned to a specific location in the file.
For example, The SE corner of a site plan indicates that it's located at XY=2530,-4375 when it should be at XY=0,0. In this situation, you could either move the geometry 2530 units to the left and 4375 units up to get it positioned correctly, or simply key in GO=0,0, set the mode to Monument Point, and identify the SE corner of the site plan.
Center which locates the global origin to the center of the design plane (2D) or cube (3D).
Additional Information:
You can determine the location of the existing global origin by keying in GO=$. MicroStation will then display the global origins offset from the center of the design plane (2D) or cube (3D).
Be aware. In versions prior to V8i, MicroStation will display the distances along the axis from the design plane origin to the point in the file that has the coordinates of 0,0.
And finally, if you make an error while setting the global origin, do not close the file. Instead, navigate to Workspace > Preferences > Operation and ensure that Save Settings on Exit is turned OFF. Then simply close and re-open the file.
